She can officially count
Bella learns so much every day in preschool. We love it when she comes home talking about one subject over and over. For instance, it is obvious that she learned the sun sets. She will piont to it on the horizon and ask, "Is it setting mom? Is the sun setting?" Now just to be clear this conversation can occur morning and evening, so she doesn't have the whole concept down yet, but she certainly knows a lot more than we expect her too.
Counting is another good example. She has been able to count to 10 and higher, even 20 at times since she was 2. She could say all the numbers in the correct order, yet had no idea what counting was all about. However, we learned yesterday that she really does know how to count. We were going to eat strawberries as part of Daddy's birthday dessert. She asked if she could get them, so she got on her stool and reached way up to the counter to get her hand in the box of strawberries. She then proceeded to pick up one berry and said, "one" as she moved it from the box to the bowl. With the next she reached in to the box and said "two" as she transfered it to the bowl. She slowly and carefully continued to count each strawberry perfectly 3,4,5 up to number 13! We were very impressed. Things got entertainlingly mixed up after that "13, 18,15,16, 17, 20, 22, 23, 24" As Paul and I stood back and watched we were so proud of her. Then we quickly jumped in and stopped her. The bowl was over flowing and we didn't want any of those fresh berries to hit the floor.
It is so fun to see her growing up. Before I know it she'll be going away to college.
